The Western world (or often called West only) refers to countries that are in Europe and America. The West is distinguished from the East used to refer to Asia. However, in general, the word is more often associated to the countries that have a majority white population. Therefore, Australia and New Zealand are also often considered part of the Western world.

For residents of the East who still uphold the traditional values of their culture, life in the Western world are generally more open sometimes cause a negative connotation to everything associated with the Western world. Easterners who had absorbed some of the Western lifestyle is usually regarded as a westernized by these circles.
Nevertheless, the influence of the superpowers are located in the West as the United States are growing toward the world as a whole has made the gap between East and West is fading.
