About Fear

Anxiety (Anxiety) is actually a normal reaction to stressful situations. But in some cases, become redundant and can cause a person to an irrational fear towards something. Different anxiety phobias (phobias), because it is not specific to a particular situation. Anxiety can affect anyone, at any time, with or without any reason.

Many terms / definitions formulated by experts in the formulation of the notion of anxiety. Some experts are trying to put forward the definition of anxiety, among others:

Maramis (1995) states that anxiety is a tension, insecurity, fear, arising from perceived will experience unpleasant occurrences.

Lazarus (1991) states that anxiety is the individual's reaction to what they're getting. Anxiety is a painful feeling, such as anxiety, confusion, etc., related to the subjective aspects of emotion. The cause of anxiety is difficult to be estimated accurately. This is due to the nature subyekif of anxiety, namely: That the same event did not necessarily perceived the same by everyone. Cognitive theory states that a reaction of anxiety caused by mental mistakes. Mental error was the fault of menginterpetasikan a situation which for individuals is something threatening. Through cognitive social learning theory, Bandura stated that the fear and anxiety generated from negative self expectations because they believe that they can not cope with the situation that is potentially threatening to them.

While based on the source of anxiety, Freud (in Calvin S. Hall, 1993) distinguishes anxiety into 3 types, namely: a. Neurotic anxiety (Neurotic Anxiety), which is closely related to the anxiety of self-defense mechanisms, and also due to feelings of guilt or sin, conflicts serious emotional, frustrated, and inner tensions, b. Moral Anxiety (Anxiety of moral conscience / super ego), which is the fear of conscience, in the past had personally violated moral norms and laws can be longer, for example, afraid to commit acts that violate the teachings of religion, c. Realistic anxiety (Realistic Anxiety), the fear of real dangers in the outside world, such as fear of poisonous snakes.

According Miramis (1985), the anxiety will arise when individuals are not able to cope with a stressful situation, which could threaten the feeling of stress, life skills. Sources of anxiety is frustrating, conflict, stress, and crisis. Frustration will occur when the obstacles or barriers between individuals with purpose and meaning.
